HLP was launched in 2000 with the international hit Made to Order, a documentary food series set behind the scenes of a posh urban restaurant. The series aired in over 120 countries and was nominated for 5 Gemini Awards, garnering Best Director and Best Photography wins for company founder, Henry Less.

HLP has produced hundreds of hours of innovative television including 22 episodes of 11 Cameras, a Gemini Award winning drama series for CBC; Plucked, a documentary series created for CMT; The Wilkinsons, a hybrid comedy garnering 5 Gemini Award nominations, winning 2; Full Ride, a reality series for ESPN highlighting young hopefuls heading to the NFL and Crystal, about a young singer and her relentless journey through the ruthless music industry.

Other producing highlights include rebranding French Food at Home, a lifestyle/food series winning the prestigious James Beard Award in the US for Best Food Series in 2010 and a Best Photography Gemini; I Prophesy, a science-documentary series about the future of humanity for Vision TV; The Tara Diaries, a reality-comedy series; ‘Twas the Night Before Dinner, a Holiday special for the Food Network; From Spain With Love, a food/travel series for Cooking Channel US and Food Network winning Best Photography and Best Director Gemini Awards; Backstage With Barrymore, a documentary starring Christopher Plummer for Movie Central and theatrical release; and About Her, a feature-length documentary on 8 women dealing with breast cancer for W Network that won the prestigious Donald Brittain Award at the Canadian Screen Awards.

In 2012, HLP created and produced the high-concept competition format Operation Unplugged for Travel+Escape and followed up in 2013 with Boundless (season 1&2), a reality-adventure series featuring ultra-endurance athletes taking on the most extreme events from the four corners of the globe. Boundless, season 3, was produced for Esquire Network/NBCU in the US and is reaching worldwide audiences through distribution.

HLP’s original competition format, Chef in Your Ear, debuted with number one ratings on Food Network Canada in 2015. This 26 x 60 series garnered rave reviews for its innovative concept and fresh tone in the food competition format space. The format is being distributed worldwide by Warner Bros.

HLP continues to grow its footprint in the US, producing season 2 of Save Our Shelter (17 x 30) for Litton/The CW in the US and Corus in Canada. This very popular animal shelter makeover series successfully blends sponsor integration and heartfelt editorial.
